Nano exceeding supply, but anticipates the full year up to March will be a bit hard as the input costs are a bit high according to the chairman. The world’s cheapest car, the Nano, will be rolled out from the workshops of Tata around the month of October.
The initial price is anticipated to be a bit greater than $2,500. In spite of its cheap cost the company says that it will render adequate margins from the diverse models.
Chairman Ratan Tata in the yearly member’s meting held on Thursday said that “We expect demand to exceed supply and we will have to figure out an appropriate system of deliveries,”
The company has a plant in Singur in the state of West Bengal. The capacity of the plant is 250,000 units, but its capacity can be increased up to 350,000 units.
The initial model of the Nano will be using gasoline but later on a diesel variant will be introduced.
The company has plans to produce a more fuel-efficient alternative of the Nano at the eco-car project in Thailand and this was indicated by the chairman at the meeting. The company also has plans to build electric car and also a model which might use compressed air. This will be done in coalition with a French firm.
