Petrol Returns to More Than One Pound
The normal price of a litre of leadless petrol has surpassed £1, and this is due to the rising oil prices and an augment in fuel duty.
This is for the first time that the benchmark has been broken by unleaded petrol, in more than seven months.
Costs for both unleaded and diesel have been on the rise progressively in 2009. At the beginning of the year the standard price of a litre of unleaded was around 85.89p, with diesel 98.06p. The mean price now is 100.12p, and this is at its highest level since October 2008. The mean price for a litre of diesel has gone up to 103.85p.

Increasing prices of crude oil has been mainly accountable for the fuel price boost. A barrel of crude at present costs $68.58 (£39.96), compared to $34 (£20.72) a barrel in February.
The government has also added an additional 2.1p on fuel duty in the month of April and a further 2p rise is planned for the month of September.
