2009 Honda Insight GrillHonda’s keeping a tight rein on the 2009 Insight hybrid, due to officially drop for the U.S. market in two weeks at the North American International Auto Show . (Honda has cancelled its press conference at the show, but the Insight will still be displayed.)That hasn’t stopped the folks at the Temple of VTEC and Carscoop from getting leaked scans of a Japanese-market brochure, revealing the new Insight’s front, rear and interior details.

Judging by the pictures, the interior is largely unchanged from the Insight Concept that debuted in Paris.

The brochure also shows images of the Japanese-market Insight Modulo, a sportier version of the hybrid featuring a body kit, auxiliary lighting and larger wheels.

According to the scans, the Insight will be available in three trim levels in Japan. There’s also a set of specifications copied below from the “Insightman” website, but they’re unverified.

Cost of Driving an Electric Car

With gasoline costs going up to new highs this summer, many car manufacturers are formulating electric cars, most of which will likely make it to the market between 2010 and 2012.  If the skill survives to build electric cars that do as well as today’s gasoline-powered models, their logic says, electric cars must cost less to run.  But is it true?

The increased electrical utilization may come from a less-than-clean electrical plant, for illustration.  An electric car secured into a wall receptacle that gets its power from a coal-burning power plant is fossil-fuel powered car.  It may emit lesser emissions than a gasoline-powered car, but it isn’t need fully a free lunch.

Honda Insight for its Prius-rivalling new Hybrid

Honda is to renew the name Insight for its Prius-rivalling new hybrid.

The Insight will be a small family sized five-door, five-seater hatch as the original 1999 model was an impractical two-door coupe. This five door coupe is to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The sales of this car will be starting next year. It will be assembled in Suzuka, Japan. The company plans to sell 200,000 a year through out the world.
Honda predicts to undersell the Prius because the Insight will be priced at a very less price than any other hybrid car on the market. This would help people to access petrol-electric technology easily. Prices will be declared at a later date.

Honda also has plans to assist drivers through a unique function for more fuel-efficient driving. This would help drivers to get the most out of their real world fuel consumption.
Honda is also to set in motion hybrid versions of the Jazz and a new Civic Hybrid in the next few years. It also has plans for a sports car based on the CR-Z concept. The goal of Honda is to sell more than 500,000 hybrids a year, with 10% of its global sales to be hybrids by 2010.
