BMW 3-Series GT to be introduced

BMW has stated that it is scheduling a GT edition of its 3-Series hatch which is named as the 335i. This new edition is planned to be along the same lines as its 5-Series Grand Turismo.

BMW 3-Series GT

The GT will be established on the new 3-Series saloon which will be unveiled in 2011. Like the 5 GT the 335i will be a form of coupe/SUV intersect with a elevated ride-height stance and inclined rear end with rear door.
It may probably be all-wheel drive and will have a variety of 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines. The design will be similar to the X6 with short overhangs, marked wheel arches and flashy alloy wheels.

The BMW car will be offered in a 4 seat and a more functional 5 seat arrangement and it will be supplied by an array of BMW’s most recent range of turbo and diesel engines.

Trial Speed Limiters for London Vehicles

Speed limiters will be fitted on vehicles in London. This is being done as a trial to control the number of speed-linked accidents.

The Transport for London (TfL) is running the trial and it will include a London bus, one taxi and 20 council vehicles. All these vehicles will be fixed with new Intelligent Speed Adaption (ISA) technology that utilises satellite global aligning technology to notice the local speed limit, mechanically decelerating a speeding vehicle if required.

ISA will be available to private buyers in the next 12 months. This is anticipated that it would be a big hit with business customers like courier firms who wish to control the number of accidents and decrease fuel use.

TfL has asserted the tool will not be made obligatory and it hopes drivers would willingly consent to take part in the ISA scheme.

The outcome of the trial will be available in the spring.

Car Production in the UK is Down Again

Revival of the car industry in Britain is to be expected to be ‘lengthened’, state motor industry chiefs. The figures on production were released today and they looked very dull.

Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) brought out Figures and it showed that production in the UK is down 55.3% against the same time last year.
Even though some manufacturers said that a major boost in sales has taken place after the launch of UK scrappage scheme, yet the car industry is still seeking more and more aid from the government to keep the industry alive.

UK car production down again

As the scrappage motivation scheme is completely operational now the industry is optimistic about the affirmative impact this will have on the car market and on UK production specifically.

In spite of the present difficulties, the UK has to be ready for the return of global development and government help for the industry is a vital part of the process.

Seat Uncovers Ibiza ST

Spanish car company Seat has exposed conception blueprint outlines of the third model in its Ibiza line-up which is anticipated to go on sale in the UK next year.

The silken appearing ST estate complies with the Ibiza 5 door and the SC, and its plan is the work of ex-Lamborghini man Luc Donckerwolke.

Particulars of the novel model will be exposed nearer to its launching, whilst Seat has plans to include a choice of engines not presently extended in the Ibiza.

Seat Ibiza St

Peter Wyhinny, who is the head of Seat UK, stated that the add-on of a grand appearing, sporty and pragmatic Ibiza ST to the fast developing array is a very stimulating development. It will find substantial charm throughout a broad scope of UK drivers and every one is looking forward to its arrival in 2010.

Mini tests electric E in Berlin

A fleet of electrically-powered Mini Es is to start testing in Berlin.

BMW is offering 15 test cars to both companies and private customers in this trial programme, which will run at the same time as with the programme already declared for Los Angeles.
The electric Minis offered will be similar to those used in LA, with no European-specific changes; they are capable of a 250km range between recharges, though this has only been made possible by fitting a huge 5,000-cell battery pack.

BMW wants to gauge consumer demand, customer expectations and reaction to the electric Minis, usage patterns and how its dealers cope with the vehicles before developing the concept further.

BMW’s M models to go turbo

BMW’s next-generation high-performance ‘M’ models will have smaller but turbocharged engines, according to Auto Week.

These improved but downsized units will offer better fuel consumption and lower emissions, yet not compromise on performance, BMW officials have promised.
First of the new turbo Ms will be the X6 xDrive M, which is to go on sale next summer; this is to have a version of BMW’s 4.4-litre V8, with output upped to around 500bhp. This engine will then be used in the next-generation M5, replacing the current model’s 5.0-litre V10.

A similar strategy will be followed with subsequent new M models, which will also eventually receive BMW’s stop-start system and other fuel-saving technologies.
