Production of Dodge Viper will extend Beyond 2009

In the fall of Fiat and Chrysler’s union subsequent to Chrysler’s bankruptcy, the future of the Viper became a back-burner issue. In spite of this Mike Accavitti who is the Dodge President and CEO today, declared that the Vipers’ production will carry on under the company’s new leadership.

He added that “The Viper lives. The new leadership team the Chrysler Group gets it.”

Chrysler exposes Dodge EV

Chrysler has revealed the Dodge EV, a Lotus-based vehicle with an electric power train.

The Dodge EV is founded on the Lotus Europa coupe, but has a Tesla Roadster-like electric power train which gives 0-60mph speedup in less than 5 seconds. It’s said to have a series of 150-200 miles between recharges and can be fully charged in 4 hours, using a 220-volt domestic power supply. A model is presently under screening.
Chrysler is also functioning on a 4 door Jeep Wrangler-based extended-range electric vehicle which can do 40 miles in electric-only mode and up to 400 miles with its small engine in operation and a similarly-propelled Town & Country/Voyager MPV. The company will have at least one of these vehicles in production by 2010.

Chrysler is also in the process of formulating a fully-electric car codenamed ENVI and a tiny electric runaround called ‘peapod’.

Another great car of Dodge is off course the Dodge Viper. Well here you find some specs of the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR. What a ride! To bad it ain’t listed in the top10 fastest cars. What we do know is, that you need a good car insurance for this ride!

Los Angeles AutoShow: Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR

The most evil Viper ever to leave Dodge’s Connor Avenue assembly plant in Detroit-the Viper SRT10 ACR-will is let loose on November 13 at the Los Angeles auto show.
Based on the 2008 Viper Coupe, the ACR is a street-legal Viper built for the racetrack.

The ACR employs the same 600-hp, 560-lb-ft aluminum V10 and Tremec six-speed physical diffusion as the new Viper. A 40-pound weight savings comes from using street-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, lightweight Sidewinder wheels and Stop Tech brake rotors.

The ACR model comes with a stiffer front anti roll bar and coil-over racing dampers from KW dangling that are adaptable for softening and ride height without taking away the wheels.

The car has race-car-like down force with 1000 pounds generated at 150 mph. Front aero betterments include a three-inch front “fanged” splitter and front dive planes that produce 25 % more down force than on the coupe. The centre segment of the front wing is detachable to keep from scratching it when driving on the street.

The car will be on sale in the second quarter of 2008, with a price of $100,000.
