Jaguar has revealed the Price and specification of its XJ

Jaguar brought out its new luxury XJ at the Saatchi Gallery in London last night. The price of the range starts from £52,500 for the entry-level 3.0-litre V6 diesel and goes on to £88,000 for a long wheelbase 5.0 V8 supercharged model.

The choice of the long wheelbase can be accessible on every model at the rate of £3,000.

There are 3 engines making up the range and they are the 3.0-litre diesel, the 5.0 direct injection V8 and the supercharged 5.0 V8 and these are available in both 470bhp and 510bhp versions.

First Appearance of the Fastest Jag ever at Goodwood

The quickest Jaguar ever will make its first appearance in UK at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend. Jaguar’s XFR Prototype in the month of November 2008 had broken all the records of speed at the renowned Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.
It attained a spectacular peak speed of 225.675mph.

Paul Gentilozzi the Rocketsports Racing owner will be driving the Jaguar at Bonneville.

The car will be making its appearance in Goodwood’s ‘First Glance’ category. Apart from this an extra one-off ‘Goodwood Special’ will also take part in the ‘Supercar run’ and this vehicle will be driven by Mike Cross, Jaguar’s Chief Engineer of Vehicle Integrity.

Mike O’Driscoll the Managing Director of Jaguar Cars states that the spirit of the Festival is speed and this makes it the ideal location and perfect timing for the introduction of Jaguar’s fastest car ever.

India’s Tata buys Jaguar, Land Rover

India’s Tata Motors has apparently bought British luxury icons Jaguar and Land Rover from US carmaker Ford. It will be officially announced later on Wednesday.

The multi-billion dollar contract is to give Tata a foothold outside the subcontinent. The contract has been figured at up to 3 billion dollars but most news say that the price is around two billion dollars.

A company official stated that the contract will be officially announced later in the day.

This sale of 2 of Britain’s most celebrated industrial firms was supported by Tony Woodley who is the joint leader of Britain’s biggest union Unite.

Woodley stated in a news brief in London that “We would have much preferred Ford to keep the companies in the family, so to speak, especially with Land Rover being so profitable.”
This deal by Tata comes in the midst of an economic downturn which has reduced the demand for prestige vehicles.

Sporty Jaguar XF Diesel Brought Out

Jaguar will bring in a new high functioning 3.0-litre diesel model to its XF range which will be the ‘most advanced, powerful and well-organized Jaguar diesel ever’.

The XF Diesel S delivers 271bhp and a 443lb-ft of torque and is worthy of 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and good for a top speed of 155mph. It’s sparing too and will bring back an average of 42.0mpg – 12% better than the current 2.7-litre V6 diesel engine on offer in the XF. The new engine lets out just 179g/km of carbon dioxide – a 10% improvement- and is 33% more powerful, with 61% more torque at 1500rpm than the 2.7-litre unit.
It comes with 19″ wheels, an aerodynamic boot lid spoiler and ‘S’ budging.

Also a 237bhp version of the new 3.0-litre which develops 16% more power and a 15% step-up in torque over the 2.7-litre diesel. It will take the XF from 60mph in 6.7 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 149mph. It’ll return 42.0mpg and emit 179g/km of carbon dioxide.

The new engine will have a parallel sequential turbocharger system – the 1st of its type to be equipped to a V-engine. The twin-turbochargers work consecutively to give additional punch at higher engine speeds.

Jaguar recalling XF in US

Jaguar is calling back the 2009 model-year XF in North America for a speaker-wiring fault.

The wires may break off, leading to failure of the audio system and also failure of the turn indicator sounds, seatbelt warning, lights-on and driver’s door open warning chimes, seat-adjustment memory and adaptive cruise control warning signals.
This follows an original recall of the XF for troubles with the rear seatbelt assembly and a recent recall for reactivate of the instrument control software.

These recalls have not been declared in the UK as yet.
