Aston Martin the British sports car manufacturer has stunned the world by revealing a new city car. This car is known as the Cygnet and it is almost based on the current Toyota iQ. The Cygnet is projected to show off a lavish new inside.

The Cygnet will get a 1.0- and 1.33-litre engine which means that the firms’ super cars could have low-polluting sub 100g/km CO2 bidding.

Ulrich Bez the boss of Aston has explained this fundamental different approach as: “Now is the right time for Aston Martin to take this first bold step to embark on this special project. This concept – akin to an exclusive tender to a luxury yacht – will allow us to apply Aston Martin design language, craftsmanship and brand values to a completely new segment of the market.”

With regard to price the firm has not yet revealed anything so far but hearsays are that Aston Martin will charge as much as £20,000.

It marks the first appearance of a new Aston Martin engine, a 7.3-litre V12 to give over 700bhp and a top speed of over 200mph. A two-door, two-seat coupe with a new carbonfibre monococque body structure, the One-77 is to feature active aerodynamics and ‘deliver breathtaking levels of power and performance.’
The ‘Project One-77′ name is just a working title, says Aston, but it does symbolize the planned production run: just 77 will be made. Customer deliveries will start late next year.

The six-speed Touchtronic 2 gearbox, created from the system in the DB9 but with a less retentive final-drive ratio and more violent gearshifts, is a substitute to the six-speed manual box presently on offer.
Performance figures – 0-62mph in 4.3 seconds, 191mph – and gears can be selected via leather-trimmed magnesium alloy paddle-shifts on the steering wheel. A ‘drive’ organize on the middle console puts it into full auto mode or a ’sport’ setting can be selected with remapped throttle mapping and gearshift points.

Aston Martin has many further fresh alternatives with the DBS, including a 2+2 seating layout with an extra pair of small seats instead of rear storage areas.

The Touchtronic 2 gearbox is a £3,000 option; DBS prices start from £162,500 (manual).

At Mercedes an hybrid S class is waiting for his introduction. But Aston Martin would be glad if they can use their technique.
Mercedes got this technique for several of years for the S class car. This car should be the first car that uses a lithium-ion battery instead of the nickel-metal hybrids batteries.

If the rumor is true, Aston Martin follows the idea of Porsche. They are the first sports car company with a hybrid car. The Panamera would be the first car that will be using this technique. At the factory of Aston Martin this will be the Rapide.

Porsche has money enough to build their own technique and Aston Martin doesn’t. So thats why Aston Martin would buy this technique at another party.

If this all is true, this Aston Martin wouldn’t be build that the main factory in Gaydon. But they will build in Magna, Austria.
