2010 Pontiac: The Pontiac G8 ST a.k.a El Camino
General Motors has determined not to call its sporty new pick-up truck El Camino, after the much-loved classic Chevrolet, though the thirstily expected ‘Shoshone is in effect that car’s heir.

This new car is known as the Pontiac G8 ST, the V8-engined, and rear-wheel-drive truck and will be for sale in late 2009. GM describes it as a ‘sports car with truck-like cargo and towing capabilities’. The ‘ST’ which is its name is Sport Truck, and this was selected from around 18,000 enterings in a competition.
The 361bhp G8 ST can carry up to 435kg, tow a 1587kg trailer, and do 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds. It has GM’s new six-speed automatic gearbox, and it will be sold with a 100,000-mile, five-year power train warranty.
