These stores will render test-drive chances to potential customers.

European customers can buy Tesla cars from this summer. The first 250 pieces will be the Signature Edition Roadster model the cost of which starts from £94,000 on the road. An option for upgrading the more powerful Roadster Sport will also be available.

Tesla is also accepting orders for its Model S sedan which is anticipated to be manufactured in late 2011. The Model S will be able to give a mileage up to 300 miles per charge.

Spyder is the result of a thesis which started at a university project done by the engineering school of Buchs NTB students in Switzerland.

Tesla, in the intervening time, will apply Daimler’s engineering, production and supply chain expertness along with its lithium-ion battery pack to accelerate the production of its next car, the Model S. This model is most likely to be on sale in the US towards the end of 2011.

The genuine launch of this saloon, which was scheduled for 2010, will now be delayed till at least 2011. Tesla has also been hit by the global economic slowdown. The company has made a number of its employees’ surplus this winter.
The company needs funding to bring the Model S to production. It also says that it will be able to make only a few thousand in the first year. An output of 20,000 a year is finally planned.

The American company, had sold its 100th £90k electric roadster this week, has plans for expansion and would like to add a saloon, the Model S.
Already the company has hit trouble and two months ago had to lay off 100 members of staff. Now it’s under more financial pressures and will have to delay the launch of the Model S, if it doesn’t get the government funding.

Tesla says that if the US Government agrees the $350 million loan, it can continue to expand and sell 20,000 electric saloon cars each year by 2011.
