The XF Diesel S delivers 271bhp and a 443lb-ft of torque and is worthy of 0-60mph in 5.9 seconds and good for a top speed of 155mph. It’s sparing too and will bring back an average of 42.0mpg – 12% better than the current 2.7-litre V6 diesel engine on offer in the XF. The new engine lets out just 179g/km of carbon dioxide – a 10% improvement- and is 33% more powerful, with 61% more torque at 1500rpm than the 2.7-litre unit.
It comes with 19″ wheels, an aerodynamic boot lid spoiler and ‘S’ budging.

Also a 237bhp version of the new 3.0-litre which develops 16% more power and a 15% step-up in torque over the 2.7-litre diesel. It will take the XF from 60mph in 6.7 seconds and all the way to a top speed of 149mph. It’ll return 42.0mpg and emit 179g/km of carbon dioxide.

The new engine will have a parallel sequential turbocharger system – the 1st of its type to be equipped to a V-engine. The twin-turbochargers work consecutively to give additional punch at higher engine speeds.
